Galaxy Duo

Galaxy Duo in the Hare

In this image the Hubble Space Telescope has captured an unusual sight. Located in the constellation Lepus (The Hare), these are actually two different galaxies passing each other at the tremendous speed of 2 million kilometers per hour. At such a high speed it is unlikely that they will merge into one galaxy, but because of the gravitational pull they will undergo significant structural changes. (Image source)
