Blazar galaxies

The so called “Blazar” galaxies are a type of quasars that presumably have supermassive black holes at the centre. As the black hole sucks matter in, some of it is accelerated and projects in the opposite direction like a beam. The name “blazar” was coined by astronomer Edward Spiegel in 1978. (Image source)
